As a life-long resident, parent of children in our district, successful business owner, community activist, and alumnus of our high school, I am running for School Board because I love Beverly Hills and want to give back to our school district and this city that has given my family and me so much during our 30 plus years living here.
I am the only candidate for School Board with a comprehensive plan to return our children’s schools to national greatness. If elected, I pledge to you that I will pursue the following priorities with intelligence, resolve and firmness as part of an overall vision for excellence:
1. MISSION STATEMENT: We must write a new Mission Statement that mandates academic excellence. Academic excellence is NOT NEGOTIABLE.
2. MEASURE E: I will work for unanimous School Board approval to hire a small team of independent fiduciary experts who have no conflict of interest. And I will EMPOWER our Citizens Oversight Committee to work with these experts to ensure accountability and transparency in the distribution and execution of Measure E funds.
3. PERMITS: I support phasing out Opportunity Permits in a fair and thoughtful manner as we become a Basic Aid district (self-explanatory).
4. NEW SUPERINTENDENT: I believe we must mount a nationwide search to hire the most exceptionally qualified and credentialed Superintendent possible to achieve the objectives set forth in the new Mission Statement.
5. COMMUNICATIONS: I strongly support quarterly Community Summits that bring together parents, students, board members, faculty and administrative leaders. We must establish a new dynamic of openness and create a communications structure that enables ongoing civil and appropriate dialogue.
6. FACILITIES: I will launch a new facilities inspection and repair program with a publicly posted letter-grading system like that used in restaurants. The quality of our facilities should match our academic excellence, and I will not rest until every school in Beverly Hills has an “A” rating.

4. MISSION STATEMENT We must write a new Mission Statement that will include academic excellence.
5. COMMUNICATIONS I support quarterly Community Summits that bring together residents, students, board members, faculty and administrative leaders. This will ensure civil dialogue, transparency and open communication.
6. FACILITIES I will launch a new facilities inspection program with a publicly posted letter-grading system as used in restaurants.
